Usman Munawar recognized as one of the best electronic engineering students in the world

A Pakistani born student who is pursuing a graduate degree from the University of Regina has been recognized as one of the world’s best electronic engineering students by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) Power and Energy Society (PES).

Usman Munawar has been awarded the 2020 IEEE PES and holds a masters of electronic systems engineering and student in the faculty of engineering and applied sciences was selected from a pool of more than ten thousand students. This scholarship recognizes PES Student Members from around the world who have chosen an academic path leading to an electric power and energy engineering career. Recipients were chosen based on their academic achievements, contributions to meeting community and humanitarian needs, and leadership in advancing student engagement within PES. All recipients receive US$10,000 and complimentary housing and conference registration at a corresponding PES Regional Conference. Besides this, he also received a scholarship from Canada.

 

Munawar completed his bachelors in engineering from Commissions on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in South (COMSATS) and then worked as a senior research officer and as a lecturer at the KICS University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore. His other accomplishments include earning a perfect 4.0 GPA and he also received a MITACS Research Training award and has had 12 journal and conference publications.
