345 Solar Powered Schools in DG Khan Soon

Punjab Minister for Energy Dr Akhtar Malik said on Wednesday that 345 government schools in Dera Ghazi Khan division would completely be shifted on solar power from November.

Presiding over a meeting, he said all big universities in Punjab would also be shifted to solar power system by year end, says an official release issued here Wednesday.

The minister said that the world was shifting to alternate sources of energy and added that Pakistan could not afford to stay behind any further.

He said the government was making efforts to extend solar power system to majority of educational institutions, government offices and hospitals by the end of year 2019.

The additional chief secretary, secretary energy and heads of departments concerned attended the meeting. Secretary energy Amir Jan gave detailed briefing on the on- going initiatives and related problems. The minister said different matters would be resolved with the Federal government amicably. He ordered recruitment against vacant posts in energy department in a transparent manner.
